Richard was the driving force in scoping, building and launching Island Pay, the first licensed Payment Service Provider and Electronic Money Institution in LAC. Island Pay continues to be the market leader in the region with more wallet holders and monthly transaction volumes than its nearest competitors.

As the company expands into new markets such as Barbados and Cayman, Richard and his team strive to provide modern financial services to its wallet holders, merchants and governments.

Geoff Smith
VP, Information Technology

Geoff serves as Vice President of Information Technology, and is responsible for the implementation of Island Pay’s IT systems, software applications, IT support and infrastructure needs, as well as information security. Geoff has 12+ years experience in various roles throughout the information technology space focusing on Fintech in North America, UK, and Europe. Most recently Geoff served as the VP of IT & Operations for a leading payments processor, where he managed full data center builds, including hardware procurement to the first cardholder transaction, large groups of skilled IT professionals, as well as several successful compliance programs and audits such as SOC and PCI DSS L1. Geoff has been a technology hobbyist his entire life, and has an educational background in computer sciences, with specialties in information security.


Imad Boumahdi
Head of Cards Program Management

Imad has 15+ years experience in Payment Cards Processing including credit, debit, prepaid cards, mobile payments, and processing operations. Imad participated in launching many worldwide top-class payment products including TransferWise and Uber Payment cards. He is considered a subject matter expert in international, multicurrency, corporate and consumer payment solutions, virtual cards solutions, e-wallets, payments digitization, and international standards of the financial industry such as ISO8583 and ISO 20022.


Jeffrey Beckles
Managing Director, Island Pay Bahamas

Jeffrey joins the team at Island Pay having recently served as Chief Executive Officer of The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation where he lead key private sector initiatives that drove stronger public policy and legislation that strengthened the economic environment. He is known as results driven leader with a history of successfully leading teams through transitions. He is focused and brings to our team sound, practical leadership skills that he has honed over the years having played key roles as an executive at The Atlantis Resort, One & Only Ocean Club, The National Sports Authority and as a successful Business Owner. He joins our team at a critical crossroads as we play a leading role in the digital transformation of The Bahamas. We are happy to have him on our Team!

Sabrina Walkine
Senior Accountant

Sabrina Walkine is a Certified Public Accountant; and is charged with leading the finance team in all areas of accounting operations and financial reporting. Ms. Walkine began her career at the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche Bahamas in the area of audit and assurance services. She has more than 20 years accounting experience and has served in both public and private institutions in senior executive positions. Ms. Walkine earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Taylor University, Upland Indiana; and a MBA in Leadership & Finance from the University of The Bahamas (formally the College of The Bahamas). She is also a licensed member with the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Katherine Russell
HR Organizational Manager

Katherine has over 33 years experience in commercial banking with Scotiabank, in several roles including Branch Stenographer, Loans/Collection Officer, Sales Manager, Small Business Officer, Branch Compliance Officer and Senior Branch Manager. In these roles she was responsible for personal loans and collections, small business lending, AML/Compliance/KYC, Branch Sales Manager, Audit, Credit Risk and Human Resources. The highlight of her tenure at
the Commercial Bank was being named Branch Manager of the Year in 2016. Katherine has
participated in numerous workshops, training sessions and certifications in Nassau and the Caribbean. Most recently, completed a Certificate Course in Human Resources Management from Villanova University and a Career Diploma in book-keeping from Ashworth College.
